YouTube has finally launched the YouTube VR app on Oculus Go VR headsets. The VR app is available for download directly from the Oculus Store and Google Play. YouTube VR will now join the likes of Google Daydream VR, Samsung Gear VR, and Sony PlayStation VR.

The YouTube VR supports for standard videos in a VR theatre mode as well as 360-degree videos. VR app users will be able to pair it with friends and watch videos with others wearing the other headsets. This enables users to watch live concerts, enjoy simulated clips and documentaries with an added immersive experience in real time like feel.
This is the first time the company is making an app accessible to non-Google Company. Google’s own Daydream VR headset had never been able to compete with the levels of Sony and Samsung in terms of content and features. YouTube VR is expected to change the things.

The thing to be noted here about the 360-degree videos is that you don’t actually need a VR headset for it. People can watch 360-degree videos by moving their phones while watching a video or by moving the cursor when using it on a PC. The same thing on an Oculus Go will be more amazing since it allows users to tilt their head slightly to view the 360-degree content from a different angle.
To recall the key specs, the Oculus Go is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset is coupled with up to 64GB storage. The Oculus Go VR headset comes with a fast switch WQHD LCD display with a pixel density of 538 ppi. The VR headset also has built-in audio, and microphone. The great thing about Oculus Go is that users will be able to enjoy the new Oculus TV service which will provide a personalized 3D surround experience like watching TV across a virtual theatre.
