July 19 is turning out to be quite an important date as far as the smartphone market is concerned in India. Recently, Nokia announced that the Nokia X6 will be globally launched on July 19, and even though the company didn’t reveal if India will be getting the phone on the same date, it still very much a possibility.
Now, Vivo has announced that it will be launching its recent (and radical) flagship, Nex S, in India on July 19. The company has sent out invites for the same. While this piece of news is already interesting for a lot of people, another interesting outcome of this is that the price of the phone has got leaked.
Apparently, the Indian price of Nex S was spotted on the product’s Amazon page by MySmartPrice. The text says, “starting Rs 48,990”. Since the phone comes in two storage variants – 128 GB and 256 GB – it is clear from the text that Rs 48,990 is meant for the 128 GB storage variant.
While this seems like a leak, we suspect clever marketing move by Vivo. Only yesterday, Oppo launched its Oppo Find X smartphone in India at a price of Rs 59,990. And now, the price of the Vivo Nex S has been leaked as the company made its launch date announcement. It is not surprising if Vivo intends to hold off people from buying the Oppo Find X before they at least take a close look at the Nex S.
Like the Find X, the Nex S has an innovative mechanism for the front camera. The selfie camera slides up, or it pops out towards the top, negating the need of a notch. It is a genuine effort in achieving full-body display. But while the Find X has a section of the phone sliding up (containing the front and the rear cameras), the Nex S does it just for the front camera.
The Vivo Nex S is powered by Snapdragon 845 chipset along with 8 GB of RAM. There’s 3D structured face recognition system, an AI-equipped dual camera and up to 256 GB storage onboard. It also has the in-screen fingerprint sensor.
