Now that the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 has been launched, we can finally move our attention to other upcoming phones as well. One of them is the Sony Xperia XZ3. It might not have been generating as much excitement as the aforementioned phone, but it is going to be a significant device as far as Sony is concerned.
Recently, Sony announced a new camera sensor for mobile phones – IMX586 – which is a 48 megapixel Quad Bayer sensor. It is heavily rumored that this sensor will make its way in the Xperia XZ3. However, it is also highly likely that there would be multiple variants of the same, like the XZ3 Compact and the XZ3 Premium.
Now, latest leaks of the upcoming phone’s leather case reveal that the XZ3 will have a single camera at the back and that it will not follow the widely adopted dual camera setup. Of course, it is not a certainty since it is only a leak which doesn’t come from Sony. In fact, some previous leaks also suggest that the phone could carry the dual camera setup. This is either confusing or it is simply pointing towards multiple XZ3 variants. Only time will tell.
According to those previous leaks, XZ3’s dual camera setup could be a combination of 19 MP + 12 MP lenses. Nevertheless, we are clearly more interested in the newer IMX586 sensor and curious to find out where it takes mobile photography next.
Keep watching this space for more information on this as well as on other upcoming smartphones of 2018.
