Design and Build Quality

  1. The Samsung Galaxy J7 Duo is made out of plastic and feels very light in hands.
  2. It features old-school design and you will need to remove the back in order to insert SIM card or MicroSD. The Battery is also removable.
  3. The Nokia 6 (2018), on the other hand, is made out of aluminum 6000 series and has front glass panel.
  4. Though it’s heavier than the J7 Duo, it feels sturdy and premium in hands.

Display, UI and OS

  1. The Samsung Galaxy J7 Duo has Super AMOLED display which is really bright, sharp and eats less power.
  2. Colors on the phone really look vibrant and doesn’t reflect much under direct sunlight.
  3. The Nokia 6, on the other hand, has IPS LCD display which is not as bright and sharp as Galaxy J7 Duo but it shows realistic colors.
  4. Another plus point with Nokia 6 (2018) is its 1080 pixels display. The Galaxy J7 Duo just has 720p display.

Gaming and Performance

  1. Both smartphones have different processors however their capabilities are almost identical.
  2. While both smartphones scored nearly similar points on GeekBench 4, the Nokia 6 (2018) earned significantly better score on 3DMark which means, we can expect the Nokia 6 to perform better in terms of gaming.
  3. Both smartphones work smoothly if you’re doing multi-tasking or using normal social media apps but the Galaxy J7 Duo gets stuck and restart the application if you’re switching between heavy games.
  4. The plus point is with Nokia 6 as the Snapdragon 630 uses big.LITTLE architecture which ensures better performance. Samsung’s Exynos 7885 lacks it.
  5. While the Nokia 6 handles heavy games like Shadow Fight 3, Gangster Vegas 3: the Mafia Game, Asphalt 8: Airborne and PUBG Mobile very well, the Galaxy J7 Duo was struggling.
  6. Talking about graphics, the Nokia 6 is definitely better. The J7 Duo, on the other hand, lacks behind as the screen resolution is just 720 pixels.
  7. Finally, one thing is good with Galaxy J7 Duo that it doesn’t heat. It has plastic body. The Nokia 6, on the other hand, heated at considerable level but that’s okay as it has metallic body.
  8. I played for around 40 minutes. During my gameplay, the Galaxy J7 Duo took 15 percent battery; thanks to its Super AMOLED display which consumes less battery when compared to IPS LCD. The Nokia 6 (2018), on the other hand, consumed 19 percent as it has IPS LCD display panel.

Even though the Nokia 6 consumed the battery a bit extra, the crown for winner goes to Nokia 6 as it is able to handle everything smoothly.

  1. As far as normal daylight shooting is concerned, both smartphones are good. Samples taken from both handsets look more or less similar.
  2. But as soon as you turn on HDR mode, the scenario goes in the favor of Nokia 6 (2018). While the HDR mode on Galaxy J7 Duo doesn’t do much, it brings significant changes on Nokia 6. For ex. sharpness, better details and better color accuracy.
  3. In normal or let’s say auto bokeh mode, both smartphones perform more or less similar. They effectively blur the background while keeping the primary object in focus. But, the Galaxy J7 Duo comes with “Live Focus” mode which works like charm. It definitely gives an edge over Nokia 6 (2018).
  4. Coming to the lowlight performance, the Galaxy J7 Duo is definitely better than the Nokia 6. Samples taken from J7 Duo have better sharpness, details and color accuracy than those on Nokia 6.
  5. Even HDR mode in lowlight condition doesn’t help Nokia 6. Samples from Nokia with (HDR mode turned on) look dull and washed out. The Galaxy J7 Duo, on the other hand, maintains sharpness, details and color accuracy.
  6. Another good thing with Galaxy J7 Duo is its dedicated “Night Mode”. It does brighten the image if you have dark surrounding however, the light part (Ex. Street light) gets overexposed.

Even though the Nokia 6 has defeated the J7 Duo in terms of daylight HDR, still the crown for winner goes to Galaxy J7 Duo as it’s not that bad either during daylight condition. Plus, it performs well in lowlight scenario and has some good features like Live Focus. See the sample below:


  1. Both smartphones are powered by 3000 mAh battery and their battery backup is more or less same.
  2. Both smartphones last a day during normal usage on a single charge, while their backup time gets reduced to 12-14 hours during mixed usage. During heavy usage, they last around 3 and a half hour.
  3. While their battery performance is identical, the charging time isn’t. The Nokia 6 comes with a fast charger whereas the Galaxy J7 Duo has normal charger.
  4. The Nokia 6 takes few minutes over 1 hour to fully charge the battery whereas the Galaxy J7 Duo takes few minutes over 2 hours.

In this section too, the Nokia 6 (2018) is winner.

Our Verdict

Both smartphones’ price tag is almost similar but they offer different features, performance and design. During our comparison, the Nokia 6 (2018) has dominated all sections except camera but it doesn’t mean that it is that bad. Its camera performance is decent. So, the winner is Nokia 6 (2018).

For Samsung Galaxy J7 Duo, I think that Samsung could have done better. At least a metallic body and decent performance are expected from a mid-range smartphone.
