Only few days back we reported that Samsung is planning to unveil the upgraded variants of the Galaxy J4 and the Galaxy J6 in the form of J4+ and J6+. Now, the South Korean company has launched the Plus variants in India at prices of Rs 10,990 and Rs 15,990 for the Galaxy J4+ and the Galaxy J6+ respectively.
On the occasion, Senior Vice President of Samsung India, Mohandeep Singh commented, “Galaxy J series is India’s most popular smartphone series, making up almost a third of all smartphones sold in India. We are making the J series even more exciting by introducing many features such as Side fingerprint, Emotify, Install Apps on SD Card, Glass finish and striking new reflective colors.”
Honestly, I find it hard to believe what he mentions about the popularity of J series, but since he’s quoting numbers, sort of, I’ll take his word for it. Nevertheless, both phones come with Snapdragon 425 processor and the Galaxy J4+ gets 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage while the Galaxy J6+ gets 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage.
Furthermore, the display on the two phones is shared as well – it’s a 6-inch screen with infinity display and throws True HD+ resolution. However, the Galaxy J6+ has a dual camera setup at the back with a combination of 13 MP + 5 MP lenses while there’s an 8 MP camera at the front. In comparison, the Galaxy J4+ has a single 13 MP main camera and a 5 MP front camera.
Also, both phones get the same capacity 3,300 mAh battery. They also share Android Oreo out of the box. Now, the problem is at this price range, there are a good number of smartphones with much better specifications like the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1, Redmi Note 5 Pro, Redmi 6 Pro, etc. I’m not sure what level of sales Samsung is expecting out of the Galaxy J4+ and J6+. We will wait and watch.
