Other than its top-of-the-line Galaxy S and Note range, Samsung is simultaneously concentrating on updating and popularizing the J series as well.
The South Korean company has released a teaser about the upcoming Plus models of the existing J4 and J6 (announced earlier in May), naming them Galaxy J4+ and Galaxy J6+ appropriately. And it seems that these are not going to be just the bigger versions, but will sport a more modern design language, akin to the Galaxy S and Note series.
Two important takeaways from the teasers are – Infinity display and the side-mounted fingerprint sensor. The Infinity display is basically Samsung’s nomenclature for its near bezel-less display which we see in the Galaxy S and the Note lineup of devices. Apparently, the J4+ and the J6+ will carry the same design statement including the curved corners for both the display as well as the bodywork.
Secondly, in a major shift from its style, Samsung is likely putting the side-mounted fingerprint sensor on both the upcoming devices. The company has been putting the fingerprint sensor on the back of its phones, but this is going to change in the Galaxy J4+ and the Galaxy J6+, at least.
There’s a good chance that the processors in the existing J4 and J6, Exynos 7570 and 7870 respectively, will get carried over to the Plus models. Keep watching this space for more information on this as well as on other upcoming smartphones in 2018.
