The Galaxy J2 Core Announced: Samsung’s Very First Smartphone with Android Oreo (Go Edition)

Expanding the range of its offerings, Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy J2 Core. This is the very first Samsung-branded smartphone which comes with the “Go Edition” of Android Oreo. For unawares, the “Go Edition” is a lightweight version of Android Oreo; dedicated to the smartphones with less RAM and low-end processors.

Galaxy J2 Core Launch, Price and Availability Details

The Galaxy J2 Core has been officially announced for Malaysia and India. Said to be available in Gold color option, the handset will hit sales in these two countries starting from the 24th August. As of now, the company hasn’t revealed anything related to the price.

Galaxy J2 Core Specifications and Features

Built around a 5-inch QHD TFT display with 540×960 pixels of resolution, the Galaxy J2 Core is powered by Samsung’s proprietary Exynos 7570 SoC which packs an octa-core processor running at 1.4GHz of clocked processing speed. Other internals of the smartphone includes 1GB of RAM, 8GB of ROM and Mali-T720 MP1 graphics processing unit. The internal storage of this handset is expandable through MicroSD.

Talking about the imaging department, the Galaxy J2 Core features an 8 megapixels camera on the rear with f/2.2 aperture and LED flash. For selfies, the company has placed a 5 megapixels shooter at the front with f/2.2 aperture and Beauty Mode.

Coming to the connectivity options, the Galaxy J2 Core has GPS, Bluetooth v4.2 LE, Wi-Fi b/g/n, 4G with VoLTE, FM Radio and a 3.5mm audio jack. Further, backed by a 2,600 mAh battery, the handset measures 143.4×72.1×8.9mm in dimensions and weighs 154 grams.
