It has been reported by an international media, The Investor, that Samsung has found one of its employees guilty of stealing 8,474 mobile phones. The story is said to have been materialized in Samsung’s Suwon production headquarters in South Korea.
A Samsung employee, apparently disabled, stole mobile phones for two years between December 2014 and November 2016 and sold them in Vietnam to second hand dealers. That employee has gone on to make 800 million won (more than INR 4.5 crores) by selling all those devices. He argued that he did it to help repay his 5.15 crores of debt.
Since the employee is disabled, the management said that he was allowed to leave the company premises without going through the scanner meant for security checks. As it has turned out, he took complete advantage of that situation.
Also, this is not the first time that Samsung has encountered a criminal activity. In February, a company executive Li Jiyong was prosecuted for suspected bribery, corruption and hiding overseas assets.
