When Reliance Industries launched the Jio Phone late last year, it was huge success and got overwhelming response from the buyers. Riding on that success, the company has now launched JioPhone 2 and it comes with, hold on, a QUERTY keypad. This means, that the users can now indulge in some old-school Blackberry style typing experience.
While this is the single-most standout feature of the phone physically, the JioPhone 2 continues to impress with its connectivity options – dual-SIM, VoLTE, VoLTE-WiFi, 150mbps LTE, GPS and NFC. Other than all this, Bluetooth, WiFi and FM radio are the usual stuff that it has.
As far as standard specs and features are concerned, the JioPhone 2 has 2.4-inch QVGA display along with a number of physical buttons typical for a feature phone – D-pad and Call/disconnect buttons. The phone is powered by a dual-core processor along with 512 MB and 4 GB of internal storage (expandable up to 128 GB). There’s 2 MP camera at the back as well as a 0.3 MP lens at the front. The runtime is provided by a decently sized 2,000 mAh battery.
To increase the reach of the phone to as many people as possible, the JioPhone 2 will come with WhatsApp, Facebook and YouTube apps out of the box. The JioPhone 2 has been launched at a fantastic price of Rs 2,999 and the KaiOS operating system (Firefox-based OS). It will be available for purchase from August 15 onward.
