Qualcomm is on the verge of unveiling its next-gen processor in the form of Snapdragon 845 – the successor to the company’s current flagship, Snapdragon 835.

The latest update on the upcoming Snapdragon chipset is that Qualcomm could unveil the Snapdragon 845 in December itself. This is on the basis of an event scheduled by Qualcomm between December 4th to 8th in Maui, Hawai. This processor, quite naturally, will power various Android flagships in 2018, starting from Samsung Galaxy S9 lineup.

In fact, it is said that Samsung has already pitched-in to purchase the entire first batch of Snapdragon 845 processors for its next generation of Galaxy smartphones due to launch by March 2018. It seems that other phone manufacturers like LG will have to wait a little longer to get their hands on the next Qualcomm powerhouse. Interestingly, this is not the first time Samsung will be doing this. The South Korean company did the same thing for its Galaxy S8 pair early this year when it acquired the full first lot of Snapdragon 835 processors in turn forcing LG to put Snapdragon 821 in its G6 smartphone.

Technically, expect Snapdragon 845 to bring noticeable improvements over Snapdragon 835 both in terms of outright performance as well as efficiency in utilizing the battery. It is not yet confirmed whether 845 is being made on the 7nm process or the 10nm process. However, if it is being developed on the 10nm process then it is likely the second-gen 10nm process which is known as 10nm LPP (Low Power Plus). Compared to the 1st gen 10nm process, on which the Snapdragon 835 is based, is called 10nm LPE (Low Power Early).
