Nokia 8 Smartphone With OZO Spatial Audio Capture, Snapgdragon 835 SoC Launched At Rs 36,999
After launching the trio of Nokia 3, 5 and 6 (all of which are either lower or mid-range handsets), HMD Global (the Finnish company that holds exclusive license to manufacture Nokia-branded smartphones) has finally brought the flagship Nokia 8 to the Indian market.
Unveiled at an event in New Delhi on September 26, the Nokia 8 bears an incredibly-competitive price tag of Rs 36,999. It will be available on Amazon India, as well as at major offline retail stores, starting October 14. Four color variants are available – Polished Blue, Polished Copper, Tempered Blue and Steel. The last of these will be available a little later.
Being a flagship smartphone, the Nokia 8 is packed with some of the best mobile hardware currently available out there. It’s primarily targeted at content creators and has many features that make recording audio/video an enjoyable experience.
Nokia 8 features a dual rear camera setup having two 13MP (each with an f/2.0 aperture) modules with Zeiss optics. This is complemented by OIS, two-tone dual-LED flash and the ability to record 4K UltraHD videos at 30fps. There’s also 13MP selfie-shooter (f/2.0 aperture) included in the mix.
It’s possible to capture photos/videos using the Nokia 8’s front and rear cameras simultaneously, and the videos can be directly live streamed on YouTube and Facebook. For audiophiles, the smartphone features Nokia’s 360-degree OZO Spatial Audio capture technology.
Nokia 8 Specifications
Carved out of a single block of series-6000 Aluminium, Nokia 8 has a 5.3-inch QuadHD IPS display of 1440×2560 pixels resolution, secured with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Below the display are two capacitive (backlit) navigation keys and a fingerprint sensor.
The new Nokia 8 is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, coupled with 4GB of RAM. It runs stock Android 7.1.1 Nougat and will be updated to Android 8.0 Oreo in the near future. The smartphone has 64GB of in-built storage, which can be expanded via microSD cards of up to 256GB in size.
Having an IP54 rating, Nokia 8 is somewhat dust and splash resistant. From Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and NFC to Bluetooth 5.0 and USB Type-C, the 4G LTE smartphone has all modern connectivity options. It’s backed by a 3,090mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support.
