While a big market in itself, certain things tend to arrive a bit late to the USA. HMD Global’s one of the latest low to mid-range devices, Nokia 6, will soon be sold in the States for USD 229. The phone will be available from early July specifically through Amazon. Other than this, there is Nokia 3 and 5 as well but there is no word about their availability in the US as yet.
HMD, it seems, is launching the said devices in a phased manner. Originally, the three smartphones were launched in January this year in specific international markets while they arrived in India in June. Now, the Finnish company is taking the fastest, biggest and the most capable of these devices to the States.
Nokia 6 has a 5.5-inch Full HD (1080p) IPS LCD display which is protected by Gorilla Glass 3 and comes with Android Nougat 7.1.1 out of the box. It is powered by a Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor with 3 GB and 4 GB of RAM for 32 GB and 64 GB of inbuilt storage respectively. The storage is expandable up to 128 GB. The USA is likely to receive the 3 GB and 32 GB combo version.
The main camera is a 16 MP unit with an f2.0 and has HDR capability. The front camera is 8 MP with a similar f2.0 aperture. The phone has an all-aluminium body.
Quite naturally, HMD is keen on bringing the Nokia brand back into competition and we believe that a bunch of low to mid-range smartphones is a good way to start.
