Nokia 6 (2018), Nokia 7 Plus And Nokia 8 Sirocco Launched In India

HMD Global has finally brought its 2018 line-up of Nokia-branded Android smartphones to India. The company three new mobile devices – Nokia 6 (2018), Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia  8 Sirocco – at an event in New Delhi.

Nokia 6 (2018) | Price: Rs 16,999

Starting with the Nokia 6 (2018), it’s an upgraded version of last year’s Nokia 6. Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 630 SoC, it comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. There’s also support for microSD cards of up to 128GB in size. Nokia 6 (2018) has a 5.5-inch FullHD display and features a unibody chassis made of 6000-series aluminum.

For imaging duties, the smartphone includes a Zeiss-enhanced 16MP rear camera with PDAF and two-tone dual-LED flash. Having all modern connectivity options, Nokia 6 (2018) is powered by a 3,000mAh battery with fast-charging support. The smartphone comes with stock Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box.

The new Nokia 6 (2018) is priced at Rs 16,999, and will be available for purchase from April 6, 2018 at Nokia’s retail outlets, third-party retailers as well on (select) e-commerce platforms.

Nokia 7 Plus | Price: Rs 25,999

Next up the Nokia 7 Plus. It’s powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset, paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. For those wanting more storage, the smartphone supports microSD cards of up to 256GB in size. Nokia 7 Plus is HMD Global’s first smartphone to come with an extra-tall display. The 6-inch, FullHD+ touchscreen of the Nokia 7 Plus has a resolution of 1080×2160 pixels and an 18:9 aspect ratio. The phone is made out of 6000-series aluminum and features diamond-cut edges.

For those who love taking pictures with their smartphones, Nokia 7 Plus includes a Zeiss-powered dual-camera system at the back. It’s comprised of a 12MP unit and a 13MP unit. There’s PDAF, two-tone dual LED flash and of course, 4K video recording with 360-degrees spatial audio capture. A 16MP front-facing snapper is also included to handle selfies and video calls. Having a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, Nokia 7 Plus is backed by a sizable 3,800mAh battery with fast charging support. Android 8.0 Oreo is there as well.

Priced at Rs 25,999, the new Nokia 7 Plus will go on sale on Amazon India from  April 30, 2018. Pre-bookings for the smartphone will commence on April 20, 2018.

Nokia 8 Sirocco | Price: Rs 49,999

Headlining HMD Global’s 2018 line-up is the Nokia 8 Sirocco, the flagship beast that will go against the likes of Samsung Galaxy S9. Delivering processing muscle to the Sirocco’s is the Qualcomm’s 2017 flagship SoC, the Snapdragon 835. It’s complemented by 6GB of RAM and 128GB of on-board storage, with support for microSD cards of up to 256GB in size. Nokia 8 Sirocco is constructed from stainless steel (frame) and glass (front and back panels), which lend it a premium in-hand feel. Gracing the facade of a smartphone is a 5.5-inch pOLED touchscreen. Curved on the left and right sides, the display has a resolution of 1440×2560 pixels and a pixel density of around 534ppi. Nokia 8  Sirocco is IP67-certified for water and dust resistance.

Nokia 8 Sirocco comes with a flagship-grade dual-camera setup at the back. It’s comprised of a 12MP (wide-angle, f/1.7) unit and a 13MP (telephoto, f/2.6) unit. There’s 2x optical zoom, dual-pixel PDAF and two-tone dual-LED flash. The camera system comes with Zeiss optics and supports 4K video recording. There are also three microphones for Nokia OZO 360-degree spatial audio capture. The front-facing shooter is a 5MP module. Nokia 8 Sirocco has everything from NFC to  USB Type-C, but no 3.5mm audio port. Backing up the whole package is a 3,260mAh battery, with support for both fast charging (Quick Charge 4.0) and wireless charging (Qi). Unsurprisingly, the smartphone runs Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box.a

It’s worth mentioning that all three smartphones are part of Google’s Android One program, which should ensure faster OS updates and timely security updates for the devices.

As for the price, Nokia 8 Sirocco costs a hefty Rs 49,999. It’ll be available from April 30, 2018 on Flipkart, with pre-bookings starting from  April 20, 2018.
