At this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC 2018), HMD Global, the Finnish company that holds the exclusive license to manufacture and sell Nokia-branded smartphones, launched a handful of new mobile devices. These include Nokia 6 (2018), Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 8 Sirocco, which are all part of Nokia’s 2018 line-up.
Now, it seems that some (or all) of these smartphones are finally set to launch in India.
HMD Global has sent out press invites for a launch event, scheduled to take place on April 4, 2018 in New Delhi, where it’ll likely launch Nokia 6 (2018), Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 8 Sirocco.
As its name suggests, Nokia 6 (2018) is the successor to last year’s Nokia 6, the first Android-powered Nokia smartphone launched by HMD Global. Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 SoC, the smartphone comes with 3GB/4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of internal storage.
Nokia 6 (2018) has a 5.5-inch FullHD display and comes with a 16MP rear camera having Zeiss optics, along with an 8MP front-facing snapper. The smartphone is backed by a 3,000mAh battery.
Moving on, Nokia 7 Plus is the first Nokia smartphone to have an 18:9 aspect ratio display. The 6-inch display has a resolution of 1080×2160 pixels and a pixel density of 403ppi. Powering the smartphone is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset, paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.
Nokia 7 Plus has a dual-camera system at the back, with 12MP lenses having Zeiss-enhanced optics. There’s a 16MP selfie-shooter too, with Zeiss optics. Having a 3,800mAh battery and fast-charging support, Nokia 7 Plus has all modern connectivity options, including NFC.
Last but definitely not the least, Nokia 8 Sirocco is the company’s 2018 flagship. Taking over the reins from last year’s Nokia 8, the Sirocco has a stunning all glass construction with a stainless steel frame. Gracing its front panel is a 5.5.-inch P-OLED touchscreen with a resolution of 1440×2560 pixels and a pixel density of around 534ppi.
Delivering processing muscle to Nokia 8 Sirocco is Qualcomm’s 2017 flagship silicon, the Snapdragon 835. It’s helped by 6GB of RAM and 128GB of on-board storage, with support for microSD cards of upto 256GB in size. For imaging duties, Nokia 8 Sirocco comes with a dual-camera system at the back. It has two 12MP lenses with Zeiss optics, with features like 2x optical zoom, dual-pixel PDAF and two-tone dual-LED flash. Obviously, 4K recording is supported. A 5MP camera capable of FullHD video recording sits at the front. The Sirocco is backed by a 3,260mAh battery, with Quick Charge 4.0 support.
