Instagram Web Version and Lite app Will Now Show Notifications
After Instagram’s co-founder leaving the company, few changes to Instagram is coming already. According to the latest reports, Instagram web and Lite version on both desktop and mobile will now show notifications. Before that, the notifications were only available on the original Instagram app.
Now, if you open the Instagram service on Chrome browser on your mobile or desktop, you will be shown a prompt to enable the desktop notifications. The new notifications feature will send you notifications when someone comments, likes or follows you, Android Police reports. However, in a report by The Verge, the feature is also available on Mozilla and Firefox browsers for both desktop and smartphones.
This notification feature is also rolled out to the Instagram Lite app. While it is a much-needed addition for the Instagram Lite app but the desktop version of Insta still don’t have an option to send DMs or upload photos/videos.
Instagram’s CEO and Co-founder Kevin Systrom and CTO Mike Krieger have left Facebook to explore their curiosity and creativity. This decision was announced just a day ago, and Facebook is reportedly considering appointing Adam Mosseri. Adam Mosseri is already heading product operations at Instagram and will lead the Instagram app now. The app had 31 million users when it was sold to Facebook in 2012 and now it has over a billion users.
