After a number of teases, the HTC U12 Plus has finally been unveiled and one of the interesting things about this smartphone is, it is HTC’s first phone since the One (M8) to sport a dual camera setup at the back. Interesting indeed!
Nevertheless, the HTC U12+ is intended to put HTC right in the mix with all the other flagships that come, and are yet to come, with the Snapdragon 845 chipset. That’s right, the U12 Plus is powered by Qualcomm’s latest and the fastest processor, Snapdragon 845, which is joined by 6 GB of RAM with two storage option (64 GB or 128 GB).
To top it off, the phone runs the Android Oreo 8.0 out of the box with the confirmed upgrade to Android P whenever that becomes available.
HTC is trying to come out with all guns blazing though, the U12+ sports a 6-inch Super LCD6 screen which now support DCI-P3 color gamut as well as HDR10. It shall promise accurate and extremely vibrant color reproduction. Also, the aspect ratio is the trendy 18:9 and the resolution is 1440p x 2280p.
Coming to the camera, the dual camera at the back is comprised of a 12 MP main UltraPixel lens and a secondary 16 MP lens capable of 2x optical zoom. This means the secondary lens is a telephoto lens. Furthermore, the main lens has an aperture size f1.8 and it gets Optical Image Stabilization too. It can shoot 4K videos at 60 fps and 1080p slow-motion at 240 fps. At the front, there’s another dual camera setup with a pair of 8 MP lenses.
The battery is a 3,500 mAh and it supports wireless charging (Qi). On the other hand, there’s a USB-C port as well. The HTC U12+ will be available in Europe at the following price – EUR 799 for the 64 GB option. US prices are $ 799 for 64 GB and $ 849 for 128 GB variant.
