Leaked images, whether intentional or not, do a fantastic at creating hype around a soon to be launched device. They create curiosity for the product and prompts speculations and discussions on what to expect. On that note, HTC 12+ has leaked in a number of press images revealing its design in entirety.
HTC U12 Plus is company’s upcoming high-end smartphone which promises to deliver one of the best user experiences in its segment. The leak is supposedly done by Evan Blass.
Starting off with the design, the U12+ sports the trendy full-screen kind of a design featuring a huge 6-inch Super LCD display which delivers QHD+ resolution (1440p x 2880p). The bezels at both sides seem tiny and even the bodywork at the top and bottom is quite small. The display has support for DCI-P3 as well as compliance for HDR10.
Quite expectedly, there’s no physical button at the front. Interestingly, there’s a dual camera setup at the front (more on this below). The backside appears smooth and clean with the usual dual camera arrangement and the fingerprint sensor occupying some in the top-half of the bodywork.
Elaborating on the cameras here – at the back, there’s a 12 MP wide-angle lens along with a secondary 16 MP telephoto lens. The aperture size for the primary lens is an impressive f1.75 whereas it is f2.6 for the secondary lens. There’s Ultraspeed Autofocus (PDAF + lazer focus), 2x optical zoom, HDR boost 2, Bokeh mode and OIS. The front camera is comprised of a pair of 8 MP lenses and gets Bokeh mode, HDR Boost and Face unlock.
All this will be handled by Qualcomm’s latest and the fastest Snapdragon 845 chipset clocked up to 2.6 GHz along with 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB or 128 GB of storage options. In this case, storage is expandable up to a massive 2 TB. The handset will ship with Android Oreo 8.0 with HTC Edge Sense 2 on top.
HTC intends to continue with its reputation for being audiophile-friendly with the U12+ with the inclusion of Qualcomm aptX HD LDAC which is capable of up to 32-bit high resolution wireless audio via Bluetooth. The battery will be a 3,500 mAh unit with support for fast charging (QC3.0 and up to 50% charge in 35 minutes).
The HTC 12+ is scheduled to be unveiled on May 23. Keep watching this space for more information on this.
