HP’s Sprocket pocket-sized printer lets you print directly from smartphone, costs Rs 8,999
Last week, American technology major HP Inc. launched a new mini printer in India. Dubbed Sprocket, the pocket-sized device allows users to print photos directly from their smartphones, anytime and anywhere. It’s targeted largely towards millennials and in general, users who like to click a lot of photos through their smartphones on a routine basis.
HP Sprocket connects with smartphones via Bluetooth and comes with a companion HP Sprocket app. Available for both iOS and Android mobile operating systems, the app allows users to customize their digital photographs using a variety of borders, stickers, emojis and more, before they are printed. The app can also be used to directly print photographs uploaded to social media services like Facebook and Instagram, as well as those stored on the users’ device(s). It supports all major image formats such as JPG, PNG and GIF.
The Sprocket can print photos of 2″x3″ in size using ZINK technology. The ZINK Photo Paper is claimed to deliver vibrant, smudge-proof, water-proof as well as tear-resistant photos. It’s worth noting that the printer doesn’t require any ink or toner cartridges, as all the color required to print the photos is embedded in the ZINK Photo Paper itself.
Bearing a price tag of Rs 8,999, HP Sprocket is available on both Amazon India and HP’s online store. As for the ZINK Photo Paper, it’s priced at Rs 539 (pack of 20) and Rs 1,249 (pack of 50). Those who purchase the printer will also get a pack of 10 papers with it.
