HMD Global, the company which owns Nokia, has announced an event to be held on October 8 in London. Looking at the invite itself, it is clear that a new smartphone is going to be announced/unveiled or launched even though the name isn’t mentioned.
It has been heavily speculated that the smartphone could be the Nokia 7.1 Plus. It will have a notch-display while the Snapdragon 710 is likely to handle the processing power. In fact, it is also assumed that the company might surprise us all with the launch of the heavily rumored Nokia 9 flagship even though the Nokia 8 Sirocco was launched earlier this year itself.
Sadly for Nokia, the Nokia 8 Sirocco didn’t get enough traction and is more or less forgotten in the sea of other flagship smartphones. It has simply failed to struck a chord with the audience and there is a belief in the industry that Nokia 9 could indeed be the true flagship that a company like Nokia can/should deliver.
Nevertheless, it shall be clear in the first week of October. And whether it turns out to be the Nokia 7.1 Plus or the Nokia 9, it is going to be an Android One device. Keep watching this space for more information on this as well as on other upcoming smartphones in 2018.
