When we think of Samsung as a phone manufacturer, we talk about the likes of the top of the line Galaxy S and the Note lineup. Clearly, these are the phones that have actually taken Samsung to greater heights and today, the company is considered the maker of some of the best smartphones on the planet.
However, if you’re not Apple, chances are that you would still need to penetrate the lower segments every now and then with dedicated smartphones. And on that note, Samsung will soon launch what is being called the Galaxy A8 Star in the Indian market.
While the Galaxy A8 Star’s actual launch date is still unknown, it should be near enough. The phone is already available in the Chinese market as the Galaxy A9 Star, and it has been heavily speculated that it could launch in India at a price of Rs 34,990. This speculation is based on a recent teaser which suggested the price to be in the range of Rs 30k.
On specifications front, the Galaxy A8 Star will come equipped with Snapdragon 660 processor along with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. The display will be a humongous 6.3 inches delivering Full HD+ resolution (1080p x 2280p). It will be an AMOLED unit, of course.
In terms of the camera, there will be a dual camera setup at the back with a combination of 16 MP + 24 MP lenses (both with f1.7 aperture) while the front camera will be a 24 MP unit with f2.0. The runtime will be provided by a generous 3,700 mAh battery.
With a doubt, we aren’t sure what level of success Samsung would be hoping for with this pricing. At exactly the same price, there’s OnePlus 6 which comes with the Snapdragon 845 powerhouse. Even better, there’s the Asus Zenfone 5Z with similar specs as that of the OnePlus 6 but it is priced at Rs 29,999.
