Asus has added a new phone to its ‘Zoom’ lineup (which actually only had a single phone in it so far) called the Zenfone Zoom S. The handset has been launched at a price of INR 26,999. Compared to the Zenfone Zoom which comes with an Intel processor and a single-lens rear camera, the Asus Zenfone Zoom S is powered by the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 processor with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage (which is expandable up to a massive 2 TB), and a dual camera setup at the back. Also, there is a free space of 100 GB on Google Drive for 2 years on offer.
The Zenfone Zoom S packs a 5.5-inch AMOLED display delivering the Full HD resolution and it is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The phone does away from the latest trend of screen dominant display and goes the conventional way showing off decent bezels on both sides while having generous real estate at the top and bottom parts of the bodywork. The overall screen to body ratio is 76.5 percent. The screen throws up to 500nits of brightness and has over 100% NTSC high color gamut.
However, possibly the biggest highlight of the smartphone is its dual camera setup with 2.3x optical zoom through the secondary lens. Both lenses are of 12 mega-pixels but the primary lens has an aperture of f1.7 for capturing more light making it good for low light conditions. Further support to the low light image capture is provided by the SuperPixel Engine and OIS (Optical Image Stabilization).
The secondary lens is the one capable of 2.3x optical zoom (and an overall 12x zoom through digital zoom). Furthermore, the camera also has the second generation lazer autofocus as well as the Phase Detection Auto Focus for overall impressive photography. The camera is also capable of shooting 4k videos at 30fps and has the assistance of Electronic Image Stabilization. Lastly, the front camera is also a 13 mega-pixel unit.
The phone supports fast charging and High-Res audio (24bit/192kHz) as well. The phone will be exclusively available through FlipKart.
