Asus is a fairly known brand in India with a wide range of laptops and tablets as well as various computer accessories. Not to mention the Zenfone lineup of smartphones too. On that note, the Taiwanese company will soon launch the Zenfone AR in India within this month. In fact, the launch is likely next week on July 13.
What is so special about this device? Well, it offers support for Google AR system (called Tango) and its VR platform (called Daydream). These are interesting technologies designed to enhance our communication through virtual reality. The smartphone is already available in Taiwan and it will be made available in US as well. Right now, it is India’s turn.
Zenfone AR was unveiled this year only and features a QHD Super AMOLED display measuring at a generous 5.7 inches. It is powered by the Snapdragon 821 processor (last year’s Qualcomm flagship) with an astounding 8 GB of RAM. The camera is also a pretty impressive 23 mega-pixel unit.
The camera setup has two dedicated sensors each for motion tracking and depth sensing. While the former allows the camera to track its motion in its surrounding, the latter measures its distance from the real world objects (using an Infrared projector) eventually enabling the primary 23MP camera to view virtual objects in the actual environment.
The phone has two storage capacities of 64 GB and 128 GB and both are expandable up to a very impressive 2 TB. Possibly both memory options shall be available here.
