One of the iPhone suppliers, Wistron, has seemingly confirmed about the wireless charging capability in the upcoming iPhone 8. It is one of the strongest speculated features to debut in the Apple’s next flagship along with the alleged screen integrated fingperprint sensor.
A quote from the CEO of Wistron, Robert Hwang, has said “Assembly process for the previous generations of iPhones have not changed much, though new features like waterproofing and wireless charging now require some different testing, and waterproof function will alter the assembly process a bit”.
The above quote has more or less confirmed about the wireless charging feature in the upcoming iPhone, however, we are not sure if it would be IP68 certified for water and dust proofing. The current iPhone 7 and 7 Plus are IP67 certified. It also points to minor alterations in the assembly line to assemble and test the wireless charging feature properly and that it is up to the set standards.
What Do We Know About the iPhone 8 So Far?
iPhone 8 is perhaps the most anticipated phone of the year, more so than any other upcoming high-end device. It is going to be Apple’s anniversary phone since the launch of the first iPhone exactly ten years ago in 2007. The Cupertino giant has a lot riding on it and is expected to showcase some innovative design and features to celebrate the decade of iPhone launches.
One of the safest speculations is the all-screen design with extremely thin or no bezels along with the rumored fingerprint sensor integrated in the screen itself. It will also be the first iPhone with an OLED panel instead of an IPS LCD display. Nothing has been confirmed about it as yet. The phone is also likely to have a dual rear camera with vertical arrangement of lenses. Lastly, it shall have the IP68 certification for improved water and dust proofing.
Rumors are getting stronger with each passing day and the whole situation is only becoming more exciting. We wait and watch what Apple has in store for all of us.
