5 Reasons Not To Buy Apple iPhone 8

Last month, Apple introduced its much-awaited new iPhones to the world. While the bezel-less iPhone X will still take time to reach potential buyers, Apple iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus have already been launched and are available in multiple countries around the world, including India.

Now, as is the case every year with new iPhones, a lot of excited people are probably planning to buying a new iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus. But even though Apple’s new smartphones offer a lot, they aren’t exactly the best out there. We think that this time around, Apple’s new iPhones are a letdown.

Don’t believe us? Here are five reasons you shouldn’t buy the iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus.

1. (Mostly) Same Old Design: Even though the basic design of iPhones hasn’t changed much over the last few years, until now, Apple has at least offered something new in terms of design when it comes to iPhones that are not an iterative upgrade (part of the S series). But that’s not the case with iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus.

Granted, the two new smartphones now have a glass back, new colours and support wireless charging, they have the same design is still the same as their predecessors (iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus). In fact, iPhone 8 and iPhone 7 (as well as their Plus variants) look exactly the same from the front.

Not just that, glass back means that the new iPhones are more likely to get scratched/shattered. And even though that problem can be solved by putting on a case, what’s the point in getting a shiny new iPhone if you can’t show it off?

2. No 3.5mm Audio Jack: Just like last year’s courageous iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, the new iPhones don’t come with a 3.5mm audio jack, a feature many users still love. Not everyone likes to use Bluetooth earphones or carry a Lightning to 3.5mm audio dongle every time. Moreover, Bluetooth headphones consume more battery.

3. No Fast Charger Included In The Box: It’s good that iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus support fast charging technology, but the charger that’s included in the box is a regular charger. Seriously? After spending such a hefty amount for a new iPhone, you’re supposed to shell out extra cash for a fast charger? That’s plain ridiculous. Same goes for wireless charger, which isn’t included with the iPhones either.

4. Smaller Battery: Battery life is something that still remains a major concern when it comes to smartphones, as majority of them struggle to make it through the day with a full charge. And the new iPhone 8 has an even smaller battery than the iPhone 7. Good luck charging it every 10 hours (which will be a problem if you don’t want to get a fast charger) if you’re a normal user, and every more frequently if you play games on the go a lot.

5. High Price: As is the case with all Apple products, the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus don’t come cheap. They have premium price tags and not everyone can afford them. So if you really want to buy an iPhone but have a tighter budget, it’s much better to go for last year’s iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus, as the newer models really don’t offer that much more.

If you’re a fan of Apple products, you might be thinking of buying an iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus because it has all those new features like the A11 Bionic SoC, fast charging and more. But you can get similar specifications with competing devices like the Samsung Galaxy S8, which offers even more.
